With this weekend being the May Bank Holiday weekend, we asked a proportion of the Irish population which Bank Holiday was their favourite.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Christmas Day is the favourite bank holiday for 2 in 5, with St. Patricks Day, The June and August Bank Holidays each accounting for 11%.

But is there a desire amongst the Irish population for more Bank Holidays?
Asked whether or not they believe Ireland needs more Bank Holidays, almost 3 in 5 Irish adults said they did. Interestingly, younger cohorts are more likely to believe that Ireland needs more bank holidays; 77% of 18-24 year olds compared to 59% of the total population.
